The Residencies
Visual Art: Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship 2020
16–29 November 2020
In the time of COVID, this award was able to pivot and carry on better than ever! With the support of Shark Island Institute and Ben Quilty, five young artists were awarded the prize for the first time, instead of just one.
They spent two glorious summer weeks in Kangaroo Valley, sharing a studio, making extraordinary work and forging friendships that would continue into the future.
Special day guests who visited the artists during the residency included Lucy Culliton, the judge for 2020; Wendy Whiteley and Maud Page; Gundungurra elder Aunty Val Mulcahy and Ben Quilty; and Wayne Tunicliffe, the head curator of Australian Art at AGNSW.
Participants:
Georgia Spain, Lily Platts, Emily Grace Imeson, Daniel Kyle, Charlie Ingemar Harding
