This is Shark Island Institute
SHARK ISLAND INSTITUTE is a purpose-driven business focused on 5 core activities.
We make and support films for impact, develop stories that need to be told, and manage and
nurture long-term impact campaigns. We build circles of influence and collaboration with a
diverse cross-section of the community, to achieve a more inclusive, just and healthy society.
A portfolio of the best international and Australian documentaries we can find, telling the urgent stories of our time.
We work with outstanding film teams who pursue these stories and their outreach programs with determination and grit.
We choose films that can act as a disruptor, and develop their Australian impact campaigns.
Telling the important stories of our time.
Through a series of residential workshops, international mentorship
and collaborative learning, we support the development of five
Australian social impact documentaries each year over a 12-month period.
SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF AUSTRALIAN DOCUMENTARY.
GREAT MINDS. DEEP CONVERSATIONS. BIG TOPICS.
We continue our support for 19 outstanding Good Pitch Australia documentaries and impact campaigns, with the ambition to shift the national conversation on key issues. We build powerful coalitions of supporters around each film, provide strategic guidance and create impact campaigns to shift consciousness, change behaviour and influence policy.
POWERFUL COALITIONS. GROUND BREAKING FILMS.
We are a small and dedicated team of documentary filmmakers,
storytellers, changemakers, strategic thinkers and community builders.
We aim to make great films and create important social change,
and we do this together with our coalition of our philanthropic partners.
We believe in the importance of PLACE. Our two work places are
at the heart of what we do. They are spaces where we create,
inspire, discuss, develop, step into the uncomfortable conversations,
host screenings, nurture, nourish and share great food with our friends.
